From the 27th to the 29th of May, educators from Sub-Saharan Africa with interest in the teaching of forestry education converged at Dar es Salaaam and discussed shortcomings in the current teaching of forestry education in Sub-Saharan Africa. The process was guided by background studies which had been carried out in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia. The results were seen to be applicable to most Sub-Saharan African countries. The participants ended up by producing a declaration on the way forward. The studies were funded through the FAO forestry facility of which we are very grateful.
